I see myself as someone dedicated to helping students who lack confidence in learning English. My goal is to support them in becoming better and more comfortable speaking with others, so they can communicate freely in English.
Learning from Personal Struggles: The reason behind this is personal. I struggled a lot with English during school, and I don’t want my students to face the same difficulties. That’s why I am committed to being a better teacher who understands their challenges and is ready to help them succeed.
After STPM, I had the chance to work as a temporary teacher for three months, and to my surprise, many students grew fond of me. I felt incredibly grateful to teach English, even though my own skills weren’t perfect. I focused on reaching out to students who struggled with basic English, and witnessing their progress was heartwarming. One memory that stays with me is of a student (8 years old) who didn’t know how to spell “chocolate.” I asked him to write it out thirty times, hoping it would help. The next morning, he ran up to me, excitedly shouting, “Teacher, I can spell chocolate!” Seeing his pride and joy was a moment I’ll never forget, and even the other teachers shared in my happiness. That’s when I knew I wanted to pursue TESL. Despite having strengths in accounting and economics and receiving an offer from UMT, I turned it down because my heart was set on becoming an English teacher.
