OUR SDG GOAL
OUR EXHIBITON BOOTH
Reflective Journal on SDG Exhibition: SDG 4 Quality Education
Conducting the SDG Exhibition focusing on SDG 4: Quality Education was a memorable experience. It was both fun and challenging. One of the most enjoyable aspects was the process of designing and decorating our booth. However, it was also quite tiring as it required significant effort to prepare all the necessary materials and ensure everything was well-organized. Despite the exhaustion, it was worth it because I gained valuable insights and knowledge while researching and presenting about Quality Education.
During the exhibition, I learned a lot about the importance of inclusive and equitable quality education. I also became more aware of the challenges that many students face in achieving quality education, particularly in underprivileged communities. This experience not only deepened my understanding of SDG 4 but also made me more passionate about advocating for educational equality.
The responses from visitors to our booth were overwhelmingly positive. Many were genuinely interested in our interactive game, which served as an engaging tool to educate them about Quality Education. It was heartening to see visitors actively participating, sharing their opinions, and even narrating their personal experiences related to education. Their feedback showed that they appreciated our creative approach to spreading awareness.
From my observation, most visitors had a general understanding of SDGs but did not possess in-depth knowledge about SDG 4. However, they were aware of the importance of education and were open to learning more about the initiative. This highlights the need for continuous awareness and education about SDGs among the general public.
I believe that the subject of literature can be a powerful medium to educate students about SDGs, including Quality Education. By incorporating stories, poems, and narratives that revolve around educational challenges and success stories, students can develop empathy and a deeper understanding of the issues. Literature encourages critical thinking and reflection, which are essential for fostering global citizenship.
To prepare pre-service teachers like me to teach SDGs in the classroom, the B.Ed TESL program should incorporate more training on integrating SDGs into lesson plans. Workshops on designing interactive and creative activities related to SDGs would be beneficial. Additionally, collaboration with organizations involved in educational development can provide practical exposure and a real-world perspective on these global goals.
Overall, this exhibition was an enriching experience that enhanced my knowledge and teaching skills. It reinforced my commitment to promoting Quality Education and inspired me to find innovative ways to integrate SDGs into my future teaching practices.
