Planning and preparing my micro-teaching session on Cheat took considerable effort. I spent time structuring the lesson to ensure students could connect the story to SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions). The time allocated for lesson planning was sufficient, as it allowed me to design engaging discussions and activities that highlighted the themes of honesty, fairness, and the importance of education
I was pleased with the lesson delivery, as students were actively engaged in discussions about integrity in education and the consequences of cheating. The lesson objectives were achieved, as students could relate the story to real-world educational challenges and ethical dilemmas. By integrating SDG elements, I encouraged students to think critically about the role of justice and fairness in education.
If given another opportunity, I would incorporate real-life case studies on academic dishonesty and its impact on society. Adding a debate session on the ethical implications of cheating could also enhance student participation. Additionally, balancing time between discussion and analysis of the text would ensure all key aspects are covered effectively
The strongest aspect of my lesson was student interaction. The thought-provoking questions encouraged students to reflect on the importance of integrity in education and its connection to justice. However, one weakness was time management, as some discussions took longer than expected, leaving less time for deeper analysis of SDG 16.
Peers appreciated how I linked the short story to SDG 4 and SDG 16, making the lesson relevant and engaging. They suggested incorporating multimedia elements, such as videos or real-world cases, to further enhance understanding. Their feedback will help me refine my teaching strategies.
This session reinforced how literature can be used to teach important values such as honesty, justice, and the role of education in shaping ethical individuals. Cheat effectively highlighted the consequences of dishonesty and the need for strong institutions to uphold fairness. This experience has helped me grow as a teacher by improving my ability to integrate sustainability topics into literature lessons. Moving forward, I aim to refine my teaching methods to create more impactful discussions on ethics and justice in education.
