Time Management
We spent approximately 2 weeks designing the lesson plan, since our consultation with our beloved lecturer, Miss Thina. However, we did not design the lesson plan every single day for two weeks. There were days we focused on other works. In my opinion, the hours we spent on designing the lesson plan were more than enough, it could have taken maybe only two or three days if we were focused on one thing at a time. for two weeks, we could have designed it better.
Teaching Satisfaction
My micro-teaching session went smoothly in my opinion, but I am aware that I did some mistakes. Due to this, I am somewhat unsatisfied with my micro-teaching. Our lesson objectives were quite a mess, and we did get comments on that. In my opinion, we implemented the SDG elements indirectly, but they were not really obvious to the students, which could be improved.
Areas for Improvement
If I were given another opportunity to conduct the micro-teaching session, I would engage more with my students. I need to ask more complex questions to trigger students' critical thinking skills. We introduced our SDG quite at the end of the lesson, which was my mistake. I was supposed to introduce it during my part at the beginning, but I was too nervous that I forgot.
Strengths and Weaknesses
From my perspective, my strength during my micro-teaching session was more towards classroom management, where I was able to control the students' behaviours. Besides classroom management, there were a lot of aspects that could be improved. First, How I engage with my students. Second, my nervousness that led me to forget how my lesson flow should be. Next, I feel like I was too casual with my students.
Peer Feedback
My peers gave useful feedback which I could use to improve my teachings in the future. Some of the feedbacks that I received were my interaction with students. I was told that I should ask more questions that could increase engagements with my students, which i agree. I was also specifically told that our SDG was introduced too late into the lesson, which was true. It could cause confusion for the students.
Overall Reflection
Overall, I am not really satisfied with my micro-teaching session. This session made me realise that there are still a lot to improve. I still experience nervousness, despite being used to micro-teachings. But I'm still learning. I promise will improve a lot more in the future!
