Weekly Reflection
This week was the first week with Lecture Andy. We, as a class, we're introduced to his learning style and were required to go through what the learning journal requirements were. Due to my injury, I was not physically present in class but ensured to schedule a consultation slot with Andy to catch up on the missed content. To ensure that I was prepared for the consultation session, I made sure to review the content on moodel first, where it explained and demonstrated the task that had to be completed.
At first, I found it a slight struggle to understand what had to be done, as I am relatively new to Protools and still find it a struggle to fully understand the DAW. The way in which today's drum editing session can be used is through the editing process of future project 2. During today's session, we also reviewed the project assignment brief, which was something that I have been working on for the past 4 weeks and am already familiar with. I made sure to question my teacher in regards to whether any mandatory DAW was required or if we could choose our own. I was instructed to use whatever DAW I was comfortable with but to ensure that my drum recordings were carried out in the SAE studios.
I also found the drum edit task extremely beneficial and interesting as it provided me with the opportunity to enhance both my post-production and listening skills.
In regards to the transferable skills refected within today's lesson, I believe they have been self-confidence and communication skills. The reason being is that I was required to go out of my comfort zone and understand how the protools functions work. I was able to achieve this with the use of guided videos. In terms of my developed communication skills, the reason why I feel they were a reflection aspect of today's session was that I was required to communicate my worries, concerns, and challenges to my tutor for him to support me in achieving my desired HD overall grade.
