This week's lesson has been to work around the project's two submissions. I strongly believe it was a highly productive lesson, as I had the opportunity to meet with my partner and discuss what the next steps were before the final submission. I started by looking at the areas that still required work before the submission date. An example is a difference between the A and C and reaction times. At this point, we as a group realized that we had been incorrectly capturing our capture spaces. With these effective changes, we then took the opportunity to re-record both in the food court (at roughly the same sound level as before) and in the EMP studio.
I found today's session quite informative to me as it provided me with the opportunity to deepen my knowledge and understanding of sound measurements, SPL meters, as well as their functionality.
In terms of this week's work ethic, I feel that I could have put more effort in at short periods. When working with Mark, I believe that he is someone who is looking to hand in project submissions a week before the deadline, which, with my other ongoing units and extracurricular activities, is not so approachable. I firmly feel that if the project completion timeline is over two weeks, we should be spreading out the workload throughout instead of trying to hustle it all in one go.
Overall, in terms of transferable skills, I think that this week's session best reflected cognitive outsourcing as we were required to apply our extensive research knowledge and further research to understand the different aspects of SPL metering. In further addition, on the other hand, I feel that I would like to continue to develop my communication and teamwork transferable skills. The reason being is that I feel this is the thing that is currently lacking within group projects and environments.
