This week's sessions were focused on the development of project 2 and understanding the different ways in which we can create a successful sounding mix. Our teacher, Andy, went through the essential parts of a mix and how the use of different pugins such as EQ, compressors, and gates can help create a cleaner sounding mix. The aim behind this session was to understand how the use of different plugins can affect and enhance your overall mix as an audio engineer. In terms of my project mix, Andy suggested that I re-record drums as my current recording was a bit unclear and muffled. As an immediate action point, I undertook his feedback and booked my drummer, Ali, for a second recording at the SAE studios for next Monday.
With regards to the development of project 3, I have recently ensured that all my services and about me section were successfully enbeded into my website page. In terms of my next steps, I will ensure that my latest projects are added in along with a small pharagraph justification of what each project is and what I was aiming to accomplish. By embedding this information on my website, it will provide me with the opportunity to ensure that all the project outcomes are ticked off and present on my website. All project development images and screenshots will be reflected upon in Week 11's learning journal in order to demonstrate the drum recording session and plugin application techniques.
In terms of this week’s transferable skills, I thought they were a representation of creativity, practice, and application. The reason for this was the fact that we were given the opportunity to apply and learn about the different plugins available on Protool and the way in which we could use them to enhance our mix. The use of specific plugins within certain sections of our mix provides us with the opportunity to create a more sonic mix. I think that this week's lesson was very exciting and will have a high impact on and influence my future project mix developments. It was a great experience and a learning opportunity, which I can now continue to apply in the continued creation process of Project 2.
