Weekly Reflection (What, So What, Now What, Peer to Peer Feedback & Transafarable Skills)?
This week's session was a short one and only included three hours. The rest of the time was used for project three development. The aim of this week's session is to create a budget template and a diagram of the connectivity within my own creative music studio. I personally found this session super interesting and informative to learn about. I have got my own studio at home, which I personally designed and built. Therefore, I found this session quite easy, but at the same time informative as I learned what new equipment is currently out there and had an idea of the current pricing and budgets for different parts of a studio.
During this lecture, I also requested feedback on project three from Randy, and the feedback received was that I was required to record more live instruments in comparison to the number of midi instruments that I had inserted within project three. In order to achieve that and work on the feedback provided, I made sure that I had booked a studio session to record an acoustic and electric guitar.
However, unfortunately, due to the lack of time and space within the recording studios, I was unable to successfully book the studio. Therefore, in order to resolve this issue, I decided to speak to a friend of mine who is a musician and record him at my own studio in the upcoming week prior to the project submission date. I had communicated this task and these decisions with my group members, but there is still a lack of collaboration when it comes to problem-solving and finding solutions to current problems that have arisen. I instantly had a chat with Randy and informed them of your situation, and he said he would take this into consideration and grade the work on the project, but then I should also speak to the team members and come up with a final solution.
Personally, I found that this lecture was a great experience and an opportunity to develop my own communication and group collaboration skills, which I think were the skills that best reflected this week due to the issues and situations mentioned above. Moving forward, I am looking to successfully record the rest of my projects and mix my final project before next Tuesday, allowing me two days to receive feedback from my peers and my lecturer for future improvements. I've also stated to my members that I will be mixing my project on my own, as we, upon reading the rubric, have to submit our own individual mixes for project three.
Personally, for the future, what I feel should change and I should definitely take into consideration all these issues before choosing a group that I'm working with, as this is something super important when it comes to recording and group projects, once working with team members. In future projects, I will ensure that I work with members within my level of knowledge and that will allow me to receive the grades that I deserve and that I'm working towards.
Below, I have inserted a financial template, which states all the prices and equipment that are required to build my own studio as part of this week's task. Due to time restraints throughout this lesson, as I also worked on my project three assignments, I was only able to layout the financial equipment list and not create a diagram chart. However, my diagram of the project studio was discussed and explained directly to my lecturer, and I also obtained feedback from the peers within my class.
