Session 1 What is Media?Media transgress borders. This is their main purpose and function: to put people in contact with someone or something that would otherwise be beyond reach in time or space - like an image from the past or a voice from far away. (Fornas, Becker, Bjurstrom, & Ganetz, 2007, Consuming Media, p. 1).What do you make of this quote? What borders do media transgress?Answer: Media is a form of communication of which allows individuals and or organizations to communicate with each other. From my understanding the different borders transgress the different communication methods that are available, an example of these are news, radio, reports, social media and email.

WEEKLY REFLECTION
What...
This week 1 was my first lecture at SAE. Kevin started by explaining what was expected from us within the course and stated that he was just there to facilitate our learning and guide us through the course. Kevin also stated that weekly journals are to reflect on what we learnt during the week?, what can now be done with the information gathered? and how will it be used in a real-life professional context?.
During this weeks session, I learnt that weekly learning journals are also to be evaluated by your in-class peers. Peer-to-peer feedback is to be completed every week and recording within the journal log. The provided feedback approach will allow us as students to reflect on what they did well and understand what they can improve before the journal submission date.
Kevin then moved on to the class content and started going through Project 1. Kevin explained that the first three weeks were going to be related to project 1 for AIM110 is a development of the project for submission. I understood all the different parts and sections that were mentioned and spoken about with the class and cleared up a few questions I had regarding the assignments, classwork and project submissions.

Upon the end of class, I went on to beginning the research section of my project to enable me to select my 3 chosen artists influences in preparation for week 2. Before picking up on any research I already knew which three artists were have influenced my music and audio journey. My three chosen artists are:
During the research process, I was continuously trying to understand how the artists are related to each other, what they can provide and bring to the music industry as individuals and how they began. It was interesting looking at and evaluate the common factors within my three chosen artists and their differences.
Upon the end of class, I went on to beginning the research section of my project to enable me to select my 3 chosen artists influences in preparation for week 2. - Sara Carreira (Pop Artist)
- Martin Garix (DJ)
- Justin Biber (Pop Artist)
During the research process, I was continuously trying to understand how the artists are related to each other, what they can provide and bring to the music industry as individuals and how they began. Now What...
Now that I have chosen my three influence artists I decided to begin my research phase of the project which is to gather general background research about the chosen artists. Who they are? What they are well known for? How did they start in the world of music? Where they are from? etc.
In preparation for the next class, I will now go ahead and map my artists using a flow chart. This chart will aim to demonstrate my research findings but also to visually demonstrate how each artist links up together. Furthermore, before my next class, I will also work on re-modelling my learning journal structure to enable me to create a more consistent and clear reflection method.

TRANSFERABLE SKILLS
Week 1 - Transferable Skill - PROFESSIONALWho is someone professional you admire? How do they make you feel when you watch them operate, what is it that they do? Think of a leader in your chosen discipline, someone who has a long and established career, describe their work ethic, time management and if they work well under pressure. Why do you think this helps them to become a leader?
Within the audio industry, the one person who I admire is Dan Digna, I met Dan in my first audio show where he guided me through all the equipment and its functions. Dan is a person who dedicates himself to the fullest within an event and who will take the extra mile to ensure that everything goes to plan. He is the one I look up to and ask questions when I have doubts. Dan is great when it comes to working under pressure as he will ensure that he and the whole team are calm and that they know what they are doing. I think what also makes him a good leader is that he plans ahead in case that anything doesn't go as planned within a show.
What are three work habits that you consider are good, explain why (use examples).
If you buy a ticket to go to a music event what do you expect in return? When I purchase a ticket to attend an event I expect it to be exciting, fun, enjoyable and professional. I expect the artist's scheduled performances and technical crews to run smoothly with minimum hassle.
Self Reflection: In terms of the overall reflection for this week, I feel that I have a stronger understanding of what the different forms of media are and how they are linked to the music industry. This weeks content has also supported me in understanding how different artists are liked together musically. Lastly, this week also helped me identify which artists influence me within the music industry and why?
Time Management: I was able to successfully plan out my time throughout the week in order to complete a coherent and consistent learning journal.
Problem Solving: At first I struggled to get my learning journal published as it was not able to be viewed by others, however, by researching on google and contacting the IT support team I was able to quickly and efficiently resolved this problem.
Communication Skills: During this week's online lessons I was successfully able to ask Kevin for guidance and clarity when something of which was taught was unclear.

- Planning - Planning is a great habitat to have as it helps leaders determine where resources or actions are most needed so a change can be made as smoothly as possible.
- Time-Management - Time management is a great habit to have as it reduces stress on event days, allows you to set goals and milestones and helps you set limits and prioritize tasks.
- Self Confidence - Self-confidence is a great habit to have as it enhances personal confidence and a positive working environment. High self-confidence also provides the energy and the will to achieve goals and milestones within any set or a given project.
