What, So What, and Now What, & Transferable Skills Reflection:
During this week's session, the main focus was to create an approved plan for project 3. My role was to discuss with my group members what the next steps were. I also presented Randy with the idea of incorporating MIDI music production into this project in order to go above and beyond. The set planning tasks were as follows:
Info about the team and the project, overview
Production techniques are used.
Risks and contingency plan.
production and project timeline.
In order to meet today's requirements and upon the project being approved by Randy, we went ahead and booked the EMP studio in order to record vocals on the 30th of November. The completed planning process of my project three can be found under the project three tab.
In order to ensure that all criteria and learning outcomes are successfully met within the project, I will have to be able to demonstrate skills that I have learnt throughout this trimester but lacked the opportunity to demonstrate in projects two and three. These identified skills are the use of compressors and gates. Both these skills were learnt post-project two in order to be applied to the third project. In terms of my personal responsibilities for this project and its planning, to ensure that my mix of the project meets all the required outcomes for me to achieve the desired grade, the fact that each of the group members is required to create their own project mix enables us to have an equal spread of workload throughout the whole process.
Throughout today's class and planning process, the only issues I thought I might encounter were the lack of participation for certain members of my group. However, in order to avoid this on the session recording, I will be deciding to stay within the set group or work on my own. This contingency plan had been approved by Randy in advance in case it needed to be implemented.
In terms of the next steps in preparation for next week's class, I will be ensuring that all the planning processes are completed and efficiently structured to cover all my learning outcomes. Randy has also suggested that we read and analyze the student guide in order to review all the learning outcomes that have been set. In addition, I will also be reviewing ways in which I can work with Protools on an M1 Macbook in a more efficient and consistent way. I will also look to speak to film students to identify the possibility of cooperating with them for the filming of project three. The filming idea will allow me as an individual to go above and beyond the set outcome and successfully demonstrate all my skills learnt this term.
In terms of transferable skills, I believe that communication and time management are the only ones that have been developed and reflected on today. The reason for my choice in transferable skills is due to the fact that not much content was learnt during today's lesson, but however, a lot of planning and time management had to be taken into consideration to ensure that our project is completed within the set timeframe. In terms of collaboration and teamwork, I personally feel like this could be seen in the group and class discussions that took place in order to bring in new ideas.
