The aim of today's lecture is to reflect on what has been done so far for project 2 in order to submit. In further addition will also be reviewing the grades for project 1 and how we can further improve in project 2 and the overall holistic grade of this unit. (All action points can be found below under the class notes section).
The aim of today's is to reflect on the genre to the chosen artist and how it's developed the respective music industry. In order to reflect on Martin Garix and his choice in future and deep house music, I undertook further research to justify my findings within project 2. Other peers within my class were finding it hard at this stage to develop there project in order to meet the respective criterion and brief.
So what...
Even though I had a clear understanding of what I had to do in order to succeslfully complete project two, Kevin undertook a class reading and discussion on genre and how its related to everyone's individual chosen artists. The question which we reflected on were as follows:
- What did you get from the 'genre studies' video?
- What did you get from the Stokes text?
- What genre is your favourite artist?
- Are they pushing the boundaries of the genre or defining it? (how do you
find out?)
- What was interesting in the Collins reading?
- What was interesting in the Chion reading?
I personally found these questions quite helpful in order to structure my research finding and present my information on genre in a more clear and consist way.
Now what
My next steps as an individual student were to create a structural plan on how I would be looking to resent my findings for project two. My personal criterion for project two was to be able to:
Present my findings in a clear and consistent way.
comparatively brief and to the point
Include multimedia to gain the audience attention.
Create speaker notes on each slide that are not repetitive.
The structural plan for collecting my findings was as follows:
Intro - What is the ‘hook’ that will get the audience excited? What do we need to know - including context and definitions (genre, technologies, other) from authoritative sources.
Body
Describe the characteristics of the work using critical concepts (e.g., genre and technology). This helps us understand their importance and contribution.
Contrast the work with what came before and after, or what was going on at the same time.
Talk about your topic's influence on contemporary culture.
My next steps before next week are to finalize my project in order to present it before next week's class.
"Consistency, Conveying, and Attractive" are the key phrases for my project.
Project 2 Related
Garrix has collaborated with artists such as the Grammy Award-winning singer Usher, Dua Lipa, Bebe Rexha, Troye Sivan, and Khalid. He has also collaborated with fellow DJs such as Tiësto, Avicii, David Guetta, Afrojack, and Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike.
