Weekly Reflection (What, So What, Now What, Peer to Peer Feedback & Transafarable Skills)?
This week's session was considered a public holiday, so no actual present learning took place. The aim during this week was to continue working on our projects, three production projects, and complete your learning reflection for week 9. I had already completed learning reflection for a week now, and therefore, my main focus was to finalise my project three recording and planning in order to submit it during week 12.
This week, the only problem that I continuously faced was communication between myself and my group members. The communication issues this week were due to a lack of support from my team members. In order to ensure I was personally meeting all my criteria as presented to me by Randy, I spoke to Randy and obtained his feedback on the process of the project. The issues that were faced this week have allowed me to work on my communication transferable skills and reflect on what was going wrong and how I could improve the process production of this project.
The next steps are to look into next week's sessions or to look into the pre-activity class and complete the week 11 tab. I have also decided to take time out this week to create the MIDI production side of the project. The reason why I chose MIDI over real instruments for certain parts is the lack of instrument players and musicians we currently have and the restricted amount of time and collaboration from the rest of my teammates.
During the midi input process this week, I faced a few issues with the ProTools software. In order to resolve this issue, I moved over to Logic Pro for the midi inputting process. Upon completing this recorded section, I then moved all my tracks for mixing and further recordings to the ProTools software. I personally feel like I should do this in future situations like this one: speak to my lecturer and inform him to try and work solo on project three. This will ensure that the communication issue is no longer an issue, but at the same time, the workload at grading is accurate and justified for all parties and team members.
In terms of transferable skills like this week, I believe the ones which are best reflected are self-confidence, positive attitude, creative thinking, and problem-solving. The reasons why these four skills were the main ones reflected this week were due to the mini creation process that I personally had to solo undertake, but also the situation of lack of communication between group members. The lack of communication will fall under the self-confidence and positive attitude sections. The reason why this is so is that, despite the lack of communication, I always ensured that I was completing my work and securing my end of project grade.
