Weekly Reflection
This week was our final week with Zubin, therefore being the submission week for project 1. We aimed to understand the appropriate mixing techniques and level balancing of different instruments before our submission date later this week. Due to being injured, I was physically not present in today's lesson. However, I was insured to be up-to-date with the covered content by scheduling a consultation session with Zubin. In further addition, I also ensured that I was up-to-date with the learnt content by asking my peer, Vimal, to fill me in and keep me updated with the skills that were taught.
This week, I aimed to also ensure that my project mix is fully completed and reflected on my project page. At first, I faced a few issues with the mixing of the vocals due to not being able to get a clean processed single from the WavesTuner plugin on Protools. As a solution to this issue, I decided to import my vocals into LogicPro to pitch correct them and then load them back into Protools on a new channel. This processing method enabled me to avoid using the WaveTuner plugin, which allowed me to bypass and resolve the plugin problem that I was facing.
As a future improvement step for future projects, I would like to attempt to record my project vocals in my home studio, as this will provide me with the opportunity to get a clear sound and also because I understand the way my equipment works 100%.
In regards to this week's transferable skills learned, I feel that the best-reflected skills were critical thinking and discovery. The reason why I feel this way since we were required to critically think and understand the different sections and parts of the single flow within the DAW protools and also how the placement of different plugins would affect the overall sound of the project. The practice side on the discovery of this week's transferable skills helped with the development of project 1 and will act as a supporting exercise for future projects, please refer to the project 1 page uner AUD181 to further reflective practices.
