Louis and Dave Myers

Louis & Dave Myers - During the 1950s, the Myers Brothers were part of a group called The Aces that backed up blues harmonica greats Junior Wells and Little Walter. The Myers' backing-style, especially when playing behind Little Walter, created much of the vocabulary for playing rhythm guitar and fills behind a harpist.

While the Myers brothers have performed as soloists and with the Aces, I prefer their work behind Little Walter's Chess recordings from the 1950s. Their simple, yet creative playing provides the perfect background for Walter's harmonica brilliance. Sometimes, both appear on the same recordings. Other times, it's Louis teaming with Robert Jr. Lockwood.
