Buddy Guy

Buddy Guy (1936- ) - is one of the last living classic blues singers and guitarists. Along with Otis Rush and Magic Sam, Buddy Guy helped to popularize the "West Side" Chicago Blues style that became popular during the 1960s. In recent years, Guy has tried to appeal more to white rockers and blues enthusiasts by playing louder and faster. But, his recordings from the 1950s, 1960s, and early 1970s are among the finest ever put to wax. Guy also performed and recorded extensively with harpist/singer Junior Wells.

Guy played in standard tuning using a series of soulful bends and double-stops to compliment his amazing singing. Like BB King, Buddy Guy is still performing today and in recent years published an interesting autobiography that vividly describes the Chicago blues scene in the 50s and 60s.
