Son House

Son House (1902-1988) - influenced by Charlie Patton, Son House was perhaps the most powerful of all the Delta blues singers and guitarists. Since he was "rediscovered" during the 60s blues revival, we are able to see him perform thanks to a number of clips from live performances and television programs.

Son House played mostly in Open G tuning - as far as I know. I have only just begun to study his playing and his music. He did not use picks and can be seen "beating" on his National guitar and violently plucking and strumming the strings to produce his trademark powerful sound.
