Jimmy Rogers

Jimmy Rogers (1924-1997) - ranks as another one of the most influential Chicago blues guitarists of the 1950s and beyond. He is most famous for his playing behind Muddy Waters (1947-1954), but he also shined in his own right as a singer and solo performer. Rodgers performed on many recordings as a session guitarist and can be heard on some of the recordings by Howlin' Wolf, Sunnyland Slim, and even Chuck Berry!

Rodgers guitar style was a creative mix of traditional acoustic blues and modern Chicago styles. He often plays in the Key of E using licks and runs similar to those played by Lightning Hopkins and other Texas guitar players. He also wore a thumbpick and fingerpick on his index finder - in the country blues style. I'm not sure if he did this on every song.
