Guitar Gable

Thomas "Guitar" Gable (1928-2001) - yet another in the long, long line of under appreciated and relatively unknown blues guitarists, Guitar Gable is one of my all-time favorites. Little seems to be known about Gable outside his recordings. He did record for Excello Records in New Orleans where he turned out a number of classic songs during the 1950s and early 1960s.

His playing is mostly limited to the first position blues box, but many of his songs feature melodic and memorable solos.
