Matthew 10:32-42
Acknowledging Jesus to Others
32 “Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge him before my Father in heaven. 33 But whoever disowns me before men, I will disown him before my Father in heaven.
34 “Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35 For I have come to turn
“‘a man against his father,
a daughter against her mother,
a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law—
36 a man’s enemies will be the members of his own household.’
37 “Anyone who loves his father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves his son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me; 38 and anyone who does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. 39 Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.
40 “He who receives you receives me, and he who receives me receives the one who sent me. 41 Anyone who receives a prophet because he is a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward, and anyone who receives a righteous man because he is a righteous man will receive a righteous man’s reward. 42 And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he is my disciple, I tell you the truth, he will certainly not lose his reward.”
Matthew 28:16-20
The Great Commission
16Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
Some theists say that the Great Commission maybe or part of our purpose on earth...Talking about Jesus to others is hard...Acknowledging how you feel about Jesus is hard...He never says it would be easy...Jesus even prays to His Father for protecting them (John 17:6-19)...The disciples knew and we know to -that their Great Commission was going to be very difficult...In fact, the early Christian leaders and followers who acknowledged Him as the Messiah would be persecuted for years...Many early Christians would be killed for following Jesus...The early Roman Emperors, especially Nero, who reigned from 54 to 68 a.d...
Talking to others about about Jesus is not only difficult, but complicated...Jesus reminds us of this, even when we talk to our own family members about it...It is very important we talk to others about Jesus and God...
