Matthew 22:34-40
The Greatest Commandment
34 Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. 35 One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question:
36 "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" 37 Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."
Since we left the Garden of Eden we have not been a loving group and as close to God, as were Adam and Eve...So let us view the world and our past in one hundred year increments and what can we learn...Human standards on morality change, as we look back, each hundred years seem slow to figure out the proper morality...We seem to change our morals over long periods of time, and slowly...What we did two hundred years ago, would seem much, much out of bounds today...
Then an Unexpected Man shows up two thousand years ago, and saw that we were not quite doing things the right way in our morality...This Man teaches us much about Loving God and Loving Neighbor...So if we look back at man and then at what he does each one hundred years forward, let us hope that he/we are getting better and closer to God and closer to being a loving group -where all beings are loved and respected in the future...
Let us pray that this slow change in our morality ways is a slow lamp for the path unto our feet...Let us pray that we are getting closer to getting back to the Garden of Eden and the Kingdom of Heaven...And maybe in the next two thousand years (or more) we will see again in the Second Advent of the One who taught and teaches us to love God and to love neighbor...And by that time let us hope that we have learned our lesson from Him...And the world will still have faith...
