Matthew 22:34-40
The Greatest Commandment
34 Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. 35 One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question:
36 "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" 37 Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."
If we believe that the Two Great Commandments, our purpose in life or at least a part of the purpose for living is loving God and loving our neighbors...After all this is a Commandment from Jesus...
We also know Jesus also wants us to teach others the gospel for He says in His Great Commission to go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that He taught His Disciples...He said to Disciples before leaving them and going to heaven: You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth...And surely I AM with you always, to the very end of the age...So by teaching others the gospel maybe a part of both loving God and loving our neighbors...
So Jesus makes it clear that we to bring others the gospel to others...We are to save others souls by teaching them His Gospel...He wants everyone to be in heaven with Him and His Father...For eternal life is to believe in Jesus and the One who sent Him...
But since God originally created man and even though we fall short of His Glory, let us glorify Him and enjoy fellowship with Him and have this good relationships with all of our neighbors...Let us be good stewards of the earth...But since we fell from grace these things are a little more difficult to do...With our sins we continue with bad relationships toward others, fellowship with God has been broken, work can become monotonous and frustrating, and man struggles to maintain any semblance of being good stewards with climate change happening, forever plastics covering the ocean and the earth, and diseases and old age coming over us...Only by having a relationship with God, through faith in Jesus, can purpose in life be rediscovered...So let us love God and love neighbor...
When we Love God and Love neighbor we can have an abundant life and have an easier time of keeping our eyes on our future home in heaven...By listening and loving God and His Son we are blessed and able to experience true and lasting joy—and lead a full and abundant life that God desires for us...
