Matthew 22:36-40
Two Greatest Commandments
36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment.39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
Psalm 100:1-5
A psalm. For giving grateful praise.
1 Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.
2 Worship the Lord with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.
3 Know that the Lord is God.
It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving
and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.
5 For the Lord is good and his love endures forever;
his faithfulness continues through all generations.
Jesus has forever linked when He gave us the Two Greatest Commandments...Does this link between God and neighbor say and teach us other things?...How does being thankful and being grateful work?...Being thankful and giving thanks to God is part of believing in Him...
The Psalmist tells us we are to be thankful to the LORD...We are to shout for joy to the LORD, all over the earth...Let us make a joyful noise unto the LORD...Let us worship the LORD with our gladness...Let us come before Him with joyful songs and hymns...Know that the LORD is God...It is God who created us, and we are His; we are His people, the sheep of His pasture...Let us enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise...Let us give thanks to Him and praise His name...For the LORD is good and His LOVE endures forever; His faithfulness continues through all generations...
Giving thanks and being thankful is a sign and an act of faith and belief...And back to the question of how does being thankful work -Can we be thankful to ourselves?...And can we be thankful only to ourselves...Does that make sense only being thankful to one's self?...It seems that thankfulness is a part of faith and it is something we are to do toward God and towards our neighbors...We need others to be thankful...Or let us ask the question this way, -If one is thankless and takes life with a thankless attitude, can we have faith and believe in God?...
