Matthew 22:36-40
The Greatest Commandment
"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" 37 Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.
Jesus teaches us the two greatest commandments...It is about putting God first in our lives...Then putting others second...The Law and Prophets, which is the Bible (our Old Testament) to those he is speaking to, is summed up in these two commandments...In life it is so easy to get caught up in family, things, and just life...While at work, or while we are busy are we praying for God's will and God's help...Jesus is alive...Remember after He died He talked to St. Paul on his way to Damascus...Paul believed, a dead man named Jesus was alive...
Jesus says love God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind...He is not saying follow Him without learning about Him...Use your mind when you seek Him...Read, study, look at creation and His plan with your mind, as well as your heart and soul...
Love God and to love all of our neighbors would help the world so much...Simple, but so hard...Hard, because we do not do it...
It is so easy to just to write something about the greatest commandments...But when Jesus says, "My yoke is easy and my burden is light".... And then he talks about our difficulties, when He says "How small is the gate and narrow the road to life and only a few find it"....We find some understanding, that faith takes just that "some faith" and it is not always easy...
But those who never search, will never find...Keep praying, reading and seeking and believing...And hold on to Jesus teaching us about God's work..."For the work of God is to believe in the one He has sent (John 6:29)"...
