John 14:6-7
Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.
Matthew 22:36-40
The Two Greatest Commandments
36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
If we believe in God, we believe that He is in control of the universe...And because He is in control of the universe and world, believers believe that God’s Will gets done...If God wants something done in His creation He gets it done...Just as He wanted His Son to come dwell among us...
In the gospels teach us a lot about suffering...Even Jesus suffered...He was tortured and died on a Roman cross...One of the major sources of suffering in our own lives is that we want to accumulate more material things...We also often to want things to be the way we want them to be, and not as they are...We have this desire and this idea that by having and always getting our own way, things will be better...We believe that if we always get our own way then we will be happy and happier...And when things do not go as we planned, then we can become stressed and we become mad, angry, frustrated, and unhappy...And even if we do get what we want, we will wind up wanting something in addition to what we just received after a period of time...These kind of ideas and thoughts are earthly thoughts...
Life does not revolve around my way or somebody else’s way...Life as it happens to play out, does not play out my way or somebody else's way...Life has not turned out, in the past, as I have expected, nor do I believe it will turn out in the future, as I might think it will...Life would be better if it would revolve around the Jesus Way...His Way is the Way to Truth, and to Life and to Happiness...He gives Life Abundantly and gives us Joy...His Way is to God...
Jesus teaches us that loving God and loving our neighbors is His Way and are the Two Greatest Commandments...It seems He is telling us that Life is more about God and neighbor than it is about self and what we desire and my way...God is in control, Life as it is- is the Way God has let Life be, since He is in control of Life...So when the Light of Life is around us, it does have God involved in it (if He is in control of the universe)...And because He is involved and in control of Life and those things around us, we can better see that God’s Will gets done in the end...
Maybe embracing those things around us and how Life actually is embracing the Jesus Way...
