John 1:1-2
Jesus is the Word
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning.
Matthew 24:35
Jesus' Word Will Never Pass Away
35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.
John 13:34-35
Love One Another
34 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
Matthew 5:43-48
Love Your Enemies
43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46 If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47 And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? 48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
John 17:13-19
Sanctify Disciples by the Truth, Because God's Word is Truth
13 “I am coming to you now, but I say these things while I am still in the world, so that they may have the full measure of my joy within them. 14 I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world. 15 My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. 16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of it. 17 Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. 18 As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world. 19 For them I sanctify myself, that they too may be truly sanctified.
Psalm 119:160 (KJV)
God's Word is Truth from the Beginning
160 Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever.
John 18:37
Testifying to The Truth
37 “You are a king, then!” said Pilate.
Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.”
John 14:6
Jesus Says, I AM Truth
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
John 8:31-32
The Truth Shall Set You Free
31 To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, "If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."
Matthew 22:34-40
Two Greatest Commandments
34 Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together.35 One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: 36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
Mark 14:60-64
Jesus Declares He is the Son of the Blessed One
60 Then the high priest stood up before them and asked Jesus, “Are you not going to answer? What is this testimony that these men are bringing against you?” 61 But Jesus remained silent and gave no answer.
Again the high priest asked him, “Are you the Messiah, the Son of the Blessed One?”
62 “I am,” said Jesus. “And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven.”
63 The high priest tore his clothes. “Why do we need any more witnesses?” he asked. 64 “You have heard the blasphemy. What do you think?”
They all condemned him as worthy of death.
God's Word has been true from the very beginning...God has given us many truths both religious and our moral truths, and many other truths in the design of our universe...The Psalmist says that God's Word is true from the very beginning: and every one of His righteous judgments will endure forever....So from the very beginning there have been Universal Truths in our world...And Creation the physicists and scientists are finding out more about some of these truths...
Truths that are truth are true, no matter where you are in the universe...Universal Truths give us a baseline for other truths and allow us to figure out many other things in the world and universe...Science is finding new truths on a regular basis about the universe...So truths are not limited to just religious or moral issues...Two plus two equaling four is a simple example...But Truth can become quickly complicated...One truth can lead to another, and when we put each of our own belief systems into our truths, things can get complicated about what Truth really is...And what one believes varies from person to person...And thus, someone's truth may not be another one's truth...So in these situations, truth can become relative...
Jesus taught us a lot about Truth two thousand years ago...He said He came to earth to testify to the Truth...And then He stood up and said I AM Truth...And this was Something He said about Himself that makes Him Absolute and Exclusive...Because Truth is Absolute and Exclusive...Jesus did not mince His words about this specific Exclusivity about Truth, when He added that He is the Only Way to God...And He added that if we hold to His teachings, then we are His disciples...Then we will know the truth, and His Truths will set us free...The evening before His arrest He ask His Father to sanctify His Disciples by the Truth; and said God's Word is Truth...As God had sent Jesus into this world to talk about the Truth, the Way, and the Life, Jesus would be sending His Disciples into the world to talk much about the same...Jesus said He would set His Disciples apart and be Sanctified and Holy...Just as He was Holy and Sanctified...And we can look upon Truth as a reflection and Image of God, as told by His Son when He was on earth...So Jesus sent His Disciples into the world to teach others about Him...And God and Jesus continue to this day to send missionaries and disciples into our world to teach others the gospel...
Jesus teaches us about Truth and at the same time He teaches us about love...And in love we learn to be tolerant of others...When He told us that we are to love one another....He meant it...So as He LOVES us, we must love one another....And by loving our neighbors and our enemies everyone will know that we are His disciples, if we learn to love one another...But tolerance of our neighbors and enemies is not the same as truth...
Jesus wants us to believe in Him...But why should you believe in anything?...You should believe in something and things because they are true, not because they fit and meet your tolerance level...
Jesus also did not come to earth, in my opinion, to prove to others that God exists...Jesus, being Absolute Truth, instead just declared that God exists, and that He is the Son of God and the Son of Man...Now His declaration that there is a God, may make you believe in God, because Jesus is Truth...And if you believe in Him when He says that He is the Son of the Blessed One -then you must then believe in God...Because He came from God and declares that He is the Son of God...
Some say that Truth is relative, which means something can be true for someone and not true for another...To say that Truth is relative is saying and believing that Truth is and can be merely a concept that can have and take on different points of views give us no no absolute truth...If you believe this then your truth is only relative, with a subjective value according to differences in your own perceptions and your own considerations can change - and these things change from individual to individual...Thus making many truths a moving target...
Believing that Truth is relative can muddy the Truth, and confuse those things that are actually Universal Truths...And relative truth can make it easy to say you can believe in God and He does exist, while another one does not believe in Him, because He does not exist...And both of these statements cannot by true...Relative truth can say, it is okay that you believe that Jesus was a Historical Person, and another one say He never existed...One of these statements is wrong and not true...And the most important truth of all is that Jesus resurrected from the dead...I will say that Jesus is risen...Others will say, He did not...We cannot both be right...One has the Truth, while the other does not...
Relative truth makes it easier for each us to have more independence in our individual rights...It is a kind of tolerance that is not out of love as Jesus taught...God gives us the right to believe what we believe through the free will He gives us...But our personal free will and our relative truths and our tolerance does not make Absolute Truth go away...
We can believe by what Jesus taught and said that all Truths are NOT relative...Some Truths are Absolute and Exclusive...Opinions are more relative than Truth...For instance, when I say that car is beautiful, that is my opinion...You may not even like the car or even its color...So Truth can become complicated, as it overlaps with worldly views, personal beliefs, our opinions, and our tolerances...
Jesus told us to love God with all our minds...Let us believe in those things that are true...Let us use our minds to find the Truth and the Absolute Truths of the world, and think about where Absolute Truth has came from and what Absolute Truth is...Absolute Truth introduces us to Another World, a Kingdom of God...Absolute Truth is a Person named Jesus Christ...
