Matthew 22:36-40
The Greatest Commandments
36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
Humans possess several inherent complexities beyond which seems to make us compare and contrast ourselves with our neighbors...Factors like individual choices, personal biases, how we are raised, and the influence of external forces can lead to conflict and disagreement with others and we then find it harder to love our neighbors...
Add to that there are global issues like poverty, political instability, and competition for resources can contribute to conflict even in a world where individuals strive to follow Jesus' teachings...
Love, compassion, forgiveness, and service to others are central to Jesus' teachings...Widespread adoption of these values would undoubtedly contribute to a more positive and cooperative society and world...Jesus emphasizes the importance of individual transformation and repentance...If each of us follow His teachings and would work on our personal qualities like humility, patience, and selflessness, individuals would contribute to a more peaceful world and maybe reach some harmonies in the world...We should love our enemies and forgive others...Jesus' teachings offer principles for conflict resolution, forgiveness, and reconciliation.... Applying these principles in everyday interactions can foster a more understanding and forgiving society and better harmony in the world...
