Matthew 22:34-40
The Greatest Commandment
34 Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. 35 One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question:
36 "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" 37 Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."
Dr. Martin Luther King said, “All this is simply to say that all life is interrelated...We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality; tied in a single garment of destiny...Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly...As long as there is poverty in this world, no man can be totally rich even if he has a billion dollars...As long as diseases are rampant and millions of people cannot expect to live more than twenty or thirty years, no man can be totally healthy, even if he just got a clean bill of health from the finest clinic in America...Strangely enough, I can never be what I ought to be until you are what you ought to be...You can never be what you ought to be until I am what I ought to be.”...
God is LOVE...LOVE makes all things better...When Jesus gave us the Great Commandment to love God and to love neighbor, He forever tied God and man together...Life is to be lived in love and harmony...And by this Commandment of Jesus, we can see that men and women are forever interrelated...By living this we can see, we cannot escape this network of mutuality...Whatever affects one man in his community, affects the community and the fellowships in our communities...By loving each other we can help each other...You, by loving me, can make me what I am supposed to be...And by me loving you, you can reach a new potential and be what you are supposed to be...No man is an island...We can love our enemies and be disciples of Jesus...Together by loving each and every neighbor we can reach new heights and be close to every neighbor, and be closest to our Father and His Son...
