John 15:9-17
Love One Another
9 “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. 10 If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love. 11 I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. 12 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.13 Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. 14 You are my friends if you do what I command. 15 I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. 16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you. 17 This is my command: Love each other.
Matthew 22:34-40
The Greatest Commandment
34 Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. 35 One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question:
36 "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" 37 Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."
I have read where some people do not follow Christianity because of the way some Christians act...If there is one act that believers and followers of Jesus might do to show that we are His followers it is that we are to love one another...It is a teaching that He gave all His followers...We are to love one another...And yet, that is a difficult task to love each and everyone is this world - to love thy neighbor as you would love yourself...
Jesus talked to His Disciples about love...Jesus ask His followers to love one another...He knew that is all His followers would love each and everyone of their neighbors others would know that they were His Disciples...So He gave His followers this command...Love one another...Love has this power that surrounds it, because love comes from God...Jesus knew the Tremendous Power of Love...
John Chrysostom, one of the early fathers of Christianity and Archbishop of Constantinople, said, “But first I want you to tell me this: do you know the power of love?...Christ passed over all the marvellous works which were to be performed by the apostles and said, "By this shall men know that ye are My disciples, if ye love one another.”..
