Matthew 28:16-20
The Great Commission
16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
When we read the gospels we really don't see Jesus with a worldly strategy or great plan to change the world...He gathered Twelve Men together and starting teaching them and He did this by going from village to village and from town to town teaching the people in each town and village what He believed...
After Jesus' death and in His Great Commission we see that He ask His Disciples to go out into the world and to teach the world His gospel...And they did...These eleven men, who would later add a twelve disciple Matthias would teach the world about Jesus...In His Great Commission He told the eleven on the mountain in Galilee to go and teach the world everything He had commanded them...
Pastor David Platt wrote this about Jesus' strategy and plan to teach the world His gospel and His beliefs, “If we were left to ourselves with the task of taking the gospel to the world, we would immediately begin planning innovative strategies and plotting elaborate schemes...We would organize conventions, develop programs, and create foundations...But Jesus is so different from us...With the task of taking the gospel to the world, He wandered through the streets and byways...All He wanted was a few men who would think as He did, LOVE as He did, see as He did, teach as He did and serve as He did...All He needed was to revolutionize the hearts of a few, and they would impact the world.”...
