Ёлка в лесу
Лошадка, что булана и борза,
Домчала нас в избушку в тихий вечер
Рождественский. В ней елочные свечи —
Растягивающиеся глаза.
Рыбак сидел у старых клавесин
И пел слова наивного хорала.
Изба стояла в рощице осин,
Над озером изба его стояла.
Жена сбирала ласково на стол
Колбасы деревенские и студень.
Махровым цветом мир в избушке цвел,
И Праздник был похож на скромный будень.
А мальчики — восьми и десяти —
Старательно и тонко подпевали.
О, Боже, в эту ночь нас посети,
Хоть зрить Тебя достойны мы едва ли!
Fir in the forest
A steamy and quick horse
On quiet Christmas evening took us to the hut.
In her are the fir candles –
The stretchable eyes.
Fisherman sat by old harpsichord
And words of the naïve chorale sang.
The hut stood in aspen grove,
His hut stood over the lake.
Wife tenderly to table gathered
Village sausages and jelly.
With terry light the world in my hut flowered,
And holiday seemed like humble weekday.
And boys – ten and eight –
Sang along diligently and nicely.
Oh, God, visit us this night,
Though we are barely worthy to see thee!
