I go to wilderness, under autumn berceuse,
I pick mushrooms and bitter cranberries.

Все эти краски ароматов, всю филигранность настроений
Я ощущаю белой ночью у моря, спящего в стекле,

When lilac sea, having purpled its horizon,
Will think, in evening mirror having reflected lemon moon,
I pose question to nature, but, it me not having answered,
Shines in numbness of sleep, and beautiful is its dream.
Night, fanned with white lily, flies, like a white swan, and
Disappears as a white fairy, like in the white spring,
What thirsts pitiful planet with its music to murder,
With golden sunrise, ruddy bells rattling.
These aromatic paints, like filigree of moods
I feel with white night at sea, sleeping in the glass,
When, not drowning, in lilac drowns lemon of the moon
And, exhausted of itself, lilac caresses all on earth.

Pour, eternal ones,
Ones homeless –
Like the hot
Tears of the heart!..

Я сидел на балконе, против заспанного парка,
И смотрел на ограду из подстриженных ветвей.
Мимо шел поселянин в рыжей шляпе из поярка.
Вдалеке заливался невидимка-соловей.
Ночь баюкала вечер, уложив его в деревья.
В парке девушки пели, — без лица и без фигур.
Точно маки сплетали новобрачной королеве,
Точно встретился с ними коробейник-балагур…
Может быть, это хоры позабывшихся монахинь?..
Может быть, это нимфы обездоленных прудов?
Сколько мук нестерпимых, целомудренных и ранних,
И щемящего смеха опозоренных родов…

Где — не помню, как — загадка,
Повстречались мы любовно…
Сонно фыркала лошадка,
Отведенная за бревна.
Кто-то пел под арфы гутор.
Кто-то что-то мне ответил…
Спал в бреду вишневый хутор,
Как слиянье наше, светел.
Думал я, сгибая прутик:
«Точно радость, ты короток…»
И на нас смотревший лютик
Был, как чувства наши, кроток.
И хотелось, и желалось
Без конца истомы в теле…
Это только мне казалось,
Или было в самом деле?

Грезит, как зябкая пенка.

Ландышами окороня
Волосы, как паутинка,
Можно подумать — тихоня…
Девушки обе надменны,
Девушки обе эксцессны.
Обе, как май, вдохновенны!
Обе, как август, прелестны!
Ножки у вас, как у лани…

Vang и Jukku! вас ведь двое…
Общий лик…
В нем единство роковое:

И окно

Нет давно.
Да и был ли? Сыро. Бело.
Стынет сон.
Где-то тьма и мирабелла.
Где-то он.
Существует все же Jukku
Где-то там.
Vang к окну приносит муку
По ночам.
И рыдает без слезинок:
«Я — не он».
Помысл Tuu в глушь тропинок
Устремлен.
И целуя Vang’a в губы
Чрез окно,
Тuu шепчет: «Пьют инкубы
Кровь давно»…
— «Не инкубы, — отвечает
Vang, — мечты»…
Вместе с Tuu упадает
На цветы.
И берет ее, умело
Претворя
В явь виденье, чтоб не смела
Встать заря.
И не внемлет Tuu стуку…
