They were jealous and scared, so they plotted to hurt Jesus, and often brought up difficult questions to him, hoping that he would answer wrong, then they could arrest him and get rid of him. However, Jesus always answered with wisdom. This time Jesus answered them clearly. The greatest commandment is to love God with all your might, and love others as yourself. This is also for us today. When we are willing to obey, we can do all the commands in the law of God, and have a good relationship with God and other people.

When someone is trying to hurt others like how Jesus was plotted against, we should not join them. When we follow the greatest commandment to love God and love and protect others, we will naturally be able to do what the other commandments want us to do. We won't want to do anything that will hurt God's heart!
