If you are grabbing a bunch of bananas, you can pick up the whole bunch by grabbing the stem.
Out of God’s commandments,
there is also one that is like the stem of the commandments.
If you can follow that commandment,
you can achieve all of them!
What is this stem commandment?

The greatest commandment

Matthew 22:34~40

Matthew 22:37
Jesus replied:“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.”

During the time Jesus was on earth, the Pharisees and the Sadducees were the powerful people in society. They saw that many people loved and followed Jesus, so they thought Jesus was there to snatch their power. They were jealous and scared, so they plotted to hurt Jesus, and often brought up difficult questions to him, hoping that he would answer wrong, then they could arrest him and get rid of him. However, Jesus always answered with wisdom. This time Jesus answered them clearly. The greatest commandment is to love God with all your might, and love others as yourself. This is also for us today. When we are willing to obey, we can do all the commands in the law of God, and have a good relationship with God and other people.

How do you show that you love God and love others around you?

□ 1.Sing hymns □ 2.Pray □ 3.Read the Bible
□ 4.Fight with your family
□ 5.Attend Sunday School
□ 6.Invite friends to church
□ 7.Secretly do bad things

  1. Have you ever met someone who wants to bully or hurt you? Did you tell your parents or teachers?

  2. Is it hard to love the invisible God? If you pray and read the Bible daily, you will find that he is a real God that is watching over you, loving you, and protecting you every day!

  1. Commandment

  2. Hinge/Pivotal reason

When someone is trying to hurt others like how Jesus was plotted against, we should not join them. When we follow the greatest commandment to love God and love and protect others, we will naturally be able to do what the other commandments want us to do. We won't want to do anything that will hurt God's heart!

Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for teaching me to make loving God the most important commandment. I am willing to read the Bible, pray, and love others as myself every day to show God that I love Him. In Jesus’Name I pray, Amen!
