After Jesus was born, King Herod was afraid that Jesus would grow up and take away his throne, so he wanted to kill Jesus. God sent angels to Joseph in a dream to tell him to escape with Mary and baby Jesus to Egypt. They listened and escaped King Herod's murderous plot. There is a church in Bethlehem today called the “Church of Nativity”. It is said that there is a small tombstone there where the innocent children that were murdered that year are buried.

- King Herod did not want to lose his crown, so he started killing all the children of Jesus's age. Have you ever lied, cheated, or hurt someone to get something you wanted? Did you know that God was watching?
- In order to protect you, God will ask your parents or Sunday school teacher to guide and teach you. Are you willing to obey them like Joseph listened to the angels, so that you don't encounter danger and receive peace instead?

King Herod murdered innocent children for his own benefit. However, it was actually Satan attempting to ruin God's plan to have Jesus save the world! Satan is a demon that goes against God, so we should be careful to avoid his attempts to ruin good things. When we have thoughts to be selfish or go against what is right, we must be careful. Don't listen to Satan and be like King Herod.
