BEST BUDDIES
Interested in becoming a mentor? This is the place for you!! The BEST BUDDY program builds friendships between people with and without intellectual and physical disabilities. It offers social mentoring while improving the quality of life and level of inclusion. We’re looking for leaders! Come fit in with us every first Monday of the month in LB 104 from 2:45-3PM. Reach out to sarah.helgesen@thorntonacademy.org with any questions.
Join the student library advisory board on October 30th from 3-4 in the library for a discussion of scary stories told to us as young children. This practice is a cross cultural phenomena; each culture seems to have a story that has a boogeyman, a pooka or some creature that warns young children of the cultural expectations/behaviors that must be followed or else. We will share stories, discuss why we think we might seek to be frightened or frighten others. In a world of trigger warnings, and safe spaces, why is it that horror and true crime is such a popular genre?
