Holidays and Observances:
In May we celebrate Asian Pacific American Heritage Month and Jewish American Heritage Month.
Cinco de Mayo, Friday, May 5th, is the Mexican celebration of the 1862 defeat of French occupational forces.
Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 14th, is a celebration honoring motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society.
College Fair
School Counseling Office would like to invite all Juniors to attend the NEACAC (New England Association for College Admission Counseling) college fair on May 18th at the Augusta Civic Center from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM. Students will have the opportunity to meet with hundreds of college representatives from around the country. Please sign up at the School Counseling Office. Seating on the bus is limited and students will be selected on a first come first serve basis.
Thornton Academy Permanent Art Collection
The Thornton Academy Permanent Art Collection Committee ("PACC") is pleased to announce the annual call for entries from the graduating class of 2023. PACC invites every graduating senior visual artist to submit one original work of art to be considered for this year’s selection. If your artwork is selected it becomes the property of TA, you will receive a generous gift certificate from a local art supply store, and you will be recognized at the Baccalaureate ceremony on June 2nd.
Please email Ms. Thomas (jodi.thomas@thorntonacademy.org) for more information & the entry form link, and feel free to stop by FA 122 with any questions after school. The deadline for submission is Friday, May 12th 3PM.

As you think about searching for a summer job, you might benefit from some job interview tips. Here is a short Google Slide show with tips and two short videos. The first video is four tips for job interviews, and the second is a humorous how-to-shake a person's hand professionally video. In addition, there are some funny what not-to-do examples.
