School Pictures - Makeup/Retake Day
If you missed school pictures at the start of the school year, the makeup day is scheduled for the morning of Thursday, October 20th. All students must have their picture taken for their school ID, but students do not need to purchase a picture package. The purchase information has been emailed to all parents.
If you purchased a picture package and would like retakes on this makeup day, please follow the instructions in the link sent to parents. Note that you must have the package you purchased with you on the day of the retakes to turn in.
Students that missed advisory when the picture packets/IDs were handed out, please see Mrs. Glass in the Attendance Office to pick up your items.
Seniors only - while we need the picture above for your school ID card, you may submit a picture for the yearbook. Please review the Senior Yearbook Letter for important information regarding submitting senior photos, messages, and baby ads! All items are due no later than November 15th, 2022.
This week we focused on Social Emotional Learning and introduced Dr. Allison Roy, who will provide many videos and lessons over the next few weeks. Here is the introduction video: https://youtu.be/nUucZwQpSY0
Also -- we learned about the part of the brain where extreme emotions reside...the amygdala and what makes someone "flip their lid" or get extremely angry. Here is the video -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2xeDcPBD5Fk&feature=youtu.be
Think about what makes you flip your lid.
Seniors -- voter registration cards were handed out this week. See Mr. Parise with any questions.

Thornton Academy’s Homestay Program is looking for new Homestay families! Our program offers an alternative to dormitory living in which international students are placed with local families. These students are seeking language and cultural immersion as well as a nurturing and comfortable home environment. In turn, families can look forward to sharing their homes with young teens who are ready for brand new adventures and excited to talk about their own traditions and home life. It’s a year of discovery for the student, as well as for the Homestay family. If this is something that interests your family, please contact our Homestay Coordinator, Sara Demers for more information. sara.demers@thorntonacademy.org
