Sophomores
Sophomore Youth Leadership Seminars - MYL, HOBY, and RYLA Applications
MYL (Maine Youth Leadership), HOBY (Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership), and RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards) are organizations that sponsor a weekend-long leadership seminar in early summer for sophomore students. Representatives from the sophomore class are selected to attend each seminar. These are excellent opportunities for students to meet other sophomores from across the state and participate in discussions, group activities, and presentations from community leaders. The goal of these seminars is to enhance and strengthen leadership skills. Students who have gone in the past have raved about their experiences, and many return as alumni every year to volunteer at the seminars!
If selected, students must commit to attending the 3-4-day seminar. Housing and meals are provided for all attendees. Students are only responsible for transportation to and from the seminars. Interested sophomores are encouraged to apply!
HOBY seminar will take place at the University of Maine at Farmington from June 12 to June 14, 2026
MYL seminar will take place at Saint Joseph's College in Standish, ME, from May 28 to May 31, 2026
RYLA seminar will take place at Camp Hinds in Raymond, ME, from June 21 to June 24, 2026
Interested students should pick up an application in the School Counseling Office. The application consists of an activities list and a short essay. Updated due date is February 6, 2026. We welcome all sophomores to apply! Please don't hesitate to contact your school counselor with any questions.
Support the TA Calendar Raffle!
We’re excited to share a fun and meaningful way for our TA community to come together!
This year, all classes are joining forces for one school-wide fundraising event: the TA Calendar Raffle Fundraiser. Even better, 100% of the proceeds from each calendar sold go directly back to the class of the student selling it, helping each class reach its goals while strengthening school spirit across TA.
This single, unified fundraiser supports each class individually—raising funds for important events like Prom, Senior Night, and other class activities, while also continuing a long-standing TA tradition where each class gives back to the school through a meaningful class gift.
To make the Calendar Raffle a success, we are currently collecting donations. These donations allow us to create an exciting calendar filled with daily winners and great prizes.
You can support this effort by signing up through our SignUpGenius, where you can:
Donate items or gift cards for raffle prizes
Pre-order raffle calendars
Sign up to help sell calendars and earn individual incentives
Please click the link below for more details and to get involved. Thank you for your support and for helping make this school-wide fundraiser a success!
