Clubs & Activities Announcements:
This weekend, students from Thornton Academy participated in BosMUN XXI which is a Model United Nations conference hosted by Boston University. Their advisor, Mr. McKenney, shared that "Throughout the conference students demonstrated exemplary skills in diplomacy, public speaking, resolution writing, and networking with students from all over the world while debating complex geo-political issues facing the world today. In addition, Cole Cochrane from Thornton Academy received the "Best Delegate Award" which is the highest award a student can receive for the recognition of their work. Cole successfully commanded the room and exhibited his leadership abilities by using his expertise in parliamentary procedure to navigate the various challenges presented to him as a delegate in the International Trade Organization of the United Nations while debating two topics: the ongoing trade war between the United States and China and the Indian Farmers protests. Congratulations to the Thornton Academy Model UN club for all your accomplishments this weekend. You all truly demonstrated unique solutions to the ongoing challenges of the world and made me very proud to know we are all in good hands with you all as future global leaders."
