Food Deliveries:
Students are prohibited from having food delivered during the school day from food delivery services, including GrubHub, Uber Eats, DoorDash, or similar services, as well as individual restaurant delivery. Students who place such orders delivered to the school will face disciplinary consequences and any delivered items will be confiscated.
The Art Club painted ladybug and bumblebee rocks for Saco Bay Trails "Fairy House Building Day" in July. The painted rocks will be used for Tic-Tac-Toe along the trail at Cascade Falls.
This student artists' work was selected by a jury of professional artists to be displayed in the Cross Office building at the Capitol Complex, next to the Maine State House, this spring. The Maine Arts Commission, an independent state agency that supports the arts in Maine, has collaborated with MECA&D, Scholastic Art & Literary Awards, and Maine’s two congressional offices to have access to the submissions for those competitions.
The exhibit will feature paintings, drawings, digital imagery, photography, collage and graphic arts from students around the state from March 20 – May 30, 2024 at the Capitol Complex in Augusta. The public may view the exhibit any weekday between 9am-5pm. A closing reception will take place on Thursday, May 30th.

Interested in Homestay?
Thornton Academy’s Homestay Program is looking for Homestay Families for the 2024-2025 school year. This program was started in 2010 and has been a fulfilling opportunity to both host families and their international students. This program has given international students a chance to fully immerse themselves in American life, learn about American values and customs and really hone their English language skills. For families, it’s an ideal way to gain an in-depth understanding of the world outside our borders, since students will be eager to talk about their home countries, family traditions and cultures. A Homestay experience will allow students and families to make personal connections and build life-long friendships. Families can rest assured they will receive ongoing support from Thornton Academy, including a monthly stipend, throughout their time as Homestay Families.
If you would like to host one of Thornton Academy’s Homestay Students or to learn more information about the Homestay Program, please contact Homestay Coordinator, Sara Demers, at 282-3361 ext 4557 or by email at sara.demers@thorntonacademy.org
