Thanksgiving Day is on November 27th this year. Following a 19th century tradition, it commemorates the Pilgrims’ harvest feast in the autumn of 1621.
Advent (November 30 - December 24) is the Christian season of spiritual preparation for Christmas Day, December 25, a day of observance of the birth of Jesus Christ.

TA Closet
Do you have any cold-weather gear in good condition that you would like to donate to the TA Closet? The jackets and coats hanging in the main building have been flying off the rack as the weather gets colder. As temperatures continue to drop, we anticipate more people will be looking for coats and other warm items - mittens, gloves, scarves, hats, etc. If you have items to share, please reach out to Mrs. Martin, Ms. Serrano, or Frau Cole. Thornton Academy will be competing against Portland High School in the Class A State Football Championship game at 11:00am on Saturday November 22, 2025 at Fitzpatrick Stadium in Portland.
Ticketing is online only, no cash. You may purchase tickets online here. You will also be able to purchase tickets electronically at the gate.
The game can be watched on a livestream here with a service fee.

Join UNICEF for Go Blue Day by wearing BLUE

World Children’s Day, celebrated on 20th November every year, aims to raise awareness and funds for the millions of children that are denied their right to adequate health care, nutrition, education and protection. The Go Blue campaign is an annual initiative on World Children's Day, that encourages supporters to wear blue. Its purpose is to raise awareness for children's rights and rally for a better future for children.
