We are excited to continue the tradition of student recognition and celebration through Pillar Assemblies! Today is our first Pillar Day Assembly of SY 23-24! Below is our bell schedule for the day.

School ID Cards, Photo Packages, and Photo Makeup
All ID cards for students who had a photo taken at the start of school are now in the attendance office for pick up if they were not received last week.
If you ordered a photo package from Haskell Photography, you may pick up your order during your lunch wave TODAY outside the cafeteria. Those not picked up today will be in the attendance office for pick up starting tomorrow.
If you missed the photo day and need a makeup or if you ordered a photo package and want a retake, the photographers will be back at TA on October 5th. Details will be emailed with a reminder closer to that date.
TA Release Form
Juniors and Seniors may fill out the TA Release form for any block that is currently a study hall. Sophomores may request release only for a block 1 or 4.
NWEA Testing, Wednesday, October 4th
9th and 10th
NWEA testing will take place on Wednesday, October 4th for all 9th and 10th grade students. Most students will take the exam with their advisory group and teacher. Please make sure you are checking your TA email for important information. This day is an Early Release Day. Testing will begin at the start of block 1 and students will be dismissed from their testing room at noon.
11th & 12th
There will be NO classes for 11th and 12th grade students on this day. See below for College and Career Day opportunities being offered by our School Counseling Office. These are optional, self-directed programs to help Juniors and Seniors plan for life after high school.
College Tours
8:35 AM - 12:00 PM
Students can sign up for a college tour. We are offering trips to the University of Southern Maine, University of New England, and Southern Maine Community College. Students must sign up by Monday, October 2nd - in the school counseling office. Trips will return to TA at 12:00 PM.

Parking Passes
Juniors and Seniors are eligible for parking permits and will be issued in order of request until they are all gone. Once you fill out the Student Parking Permit form you need to pick up your permit at Mr. Trask's office.
College Mini-Fairs
The School Counseling Office will be hosting College Mini-Fairs in the Atrium during block 2 on Tuesday, Oct 3 (M)
Teachers will be provided a time to bring their junior and/or senior students to the fair.

Art School Presentations 2023-24
The following Art School presentations have been scheduled during Ms. Thomas’ Gold 4 block class in room FA 122(B). All Junior & Senior Artists interested in attending art school at the post-secondary level may attend as long as they have permission from their Gold 4 Teacher and have a pass from them. Please sign-up in advance with Ms. Thomas in person after school or by email. Students must have a pass from their academic teacher the day of the presentation. Please no surprise drop-ins on the day of the presentation!

TA Tour Guides - Help welcome prospective students and families to Thornton Academy! TA Tour Guides give campus tours, connect with students on email and social media, and help out at open houses and fairs. The T.A. Anglers' Society is open to any and all students with an interest in the outdoors. We meet weekly on Wednesdays from 2:50-3:20 and conduct monthly outings.

Classics Club! The first meeting of TA' s Classics Club will take place on Thursday, Sept. 28 at 2:50 in TH102. The club is open to anyone interested in any aspect of the worlds of the ancient Greeks and Romans--history, mythology, language, culture, bad movies about the same--anything! Knowledge of Latin or ancient Greek NOT required! The club meets every other Thursday. Join us for food and fun!
