March is Youth Art Month!
The following artists will have artwork on display at the Portland Museum of Art from March 1 - April 2, 2023, Lower Ground Floor, and digitally on the PMA's website. Certificate Presentation for grades 9-12 is March 11 at 5:30 PM. Congratulations to the TA Artists!
Ms. Thomas selected a digital photograph by Sebastian Sheilds, grade 11 in AP Art & Design. "Sebastian is a constant creator and designer that takes pride in his inquiry and process in artmaking. I am most impressed with the concept and aesthetic of his photograph."
Mrs. Merry chose a pop-art painting created by Isabella Loignon, grade 11 in Honors Painting. "This student spends an extraordinary amount of time in the studio to create artworks that surpass the lesson being taught."
Ms. Altman selected a needle-felted sculpture created by Julia Fomichenko, grade 12. "Julia is a quiet leader in sculpture class. Her ideation, craftsmanship, and execution are consistently exceptional."
Last week, we continued the series on procrastination. There is an animated TEDed video called "Why you procrastinate even when it feels bad" to "Explore what happens in the brain to trigger procrastination, and what strategies you can use to break the cycle of this harmful practice."

On Monday, March 6th, we will celebrate Spread the Word day. The goal of Spread the word is to help make the world a more inclusive place for those with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities, one community at a time. The Spread the Word campaign was initially focused on ending the use of the R-word, but the mission has expanded to help eliminate exclusionary practices and beliefs. You can help us spread the word in one or more of the following ways:
Sign the Spread the Word Banner during your lunch wave
Show your TA Unified pride by wearing your Unified Basketball Tshirt or other Unified gear
Support our Unified Basketball Team at their final home game Monday afternoon
Think about how you can go all in to promote inclusion and take the pledge at spreadtheword.global/pledge
