Boat found idling, one dead at Johnson Lake

Updated 11:30 a.m. LEXINGTON - A Sargent man died Monday at Johnson Lake, the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office said.

At approximately 5:45 p.m., the sheriff’s office was notified of an unoccupied boat idling in the area of North Shore at the lake.

The sheriff’s office received a second 911 call at 6:25 p.m. because a body had washed up in that same area.

Michael G. Mannlein, 48, of Sargent was pronounced dead at the scene. Deputies notified next of kin and an autopsy has been scheduled. An investigation by the sheriff’s office continues.

Initial Post 8:40 a.m. LEXINGTON - Law enforcement officials are investigating a fatal boating accident on Johnson Lake Monday.

An unoccupied boat was found idling near the north shore of Johnson Lake about 6:30 p.m., according to the Nebraska State Patrol in North Platte.

A man was reported missing and is presumed to be a victim of a fatal boating accident, the Nebraska State Patrol said.

The man’s identity is being withheld pending notification of family.
