Johnson Lake Chamber summer events promote community support and involvement.

Johnson Lake, NE June 25, 2013

The Johnson Lake Chamber held its 2nd annual Art & Wine Festival June 8th, “We were able to raise over $12,000 (twice as much as last year) and we have the community and our corporate sponsors to thank, says committee chair, Patti Johnson. Monies will go toward providing equipment and training for the local Emergency Medical Services, the continuation of the Johnson Lake Hike & Bike Trail project, the 4th of July Fireworks Display and several other initiatives for the betterment of the community.

The Chamber recorded over 1500 visitors from 60 communities as well as residents from 16 states. “I speak for the Chamber when I say that this event is not easy to put together and without the efforts of our board, our members and the volunteers it would not have been so successful,” said Johnson.

The Festival attracted 20 renowned artists with a wide range of artistic venues. “We were happy to hear that our artists also increased their sales this year. Everything seemed to come together in spite of the weather, and we are really thankful for the low winds,” says Kevin Kunnemann, chamber president.

The Art & Wine Festival also featured Nebraska based food and wine vendors, “Providing our members the opportunity to gain visibility and promote their goods and services is one of our primary goals as an organization. The Art & Wine Festival is just one of the many functions the Chamber and local businesses support to better our community, said Kevin Kunnemann.

Another summer events at Johnson Lake is the Annual Patriotic Boat Parade and Dock Decorating Contest. “The event is held every 4th of July weekend and our turn out is a sight to see. We usually have between 25-40 boats and even jet skies go all out to display our countries independence,” Duane Kuhnel, chamber spokesperson. The event will begin Friday, July 5th at 10:00 (with registration and departure at LakeShore Marina Bar & Grille/C-Store). The dock decorating contest will be judged between 2-4 the same day and winners of the boat parade will receive cash & merchandise prizes and cash prizes will awarded to dock decorating winners.
