दोस्तों,
हमारा मंच की बैठकों के दौरान अकसर ही जरूरत मेहसूस होती है कि
- कामगारों का संघर्ष सिर्फ़ आर्थिक मसलों के इर्द-गिर्द ही ना घूमें बल्कि इस संघर्ष के सामजिक व राजनितिक पहलूओं पर भी कामगारों व उनसे जुड़े साथियों की समझ बनाने की कोशिश की जानी चाहिये।
- कैसे हम यह समझ उन कामगारों से भी साझा करें जोकि हमारा मंच की बैठकों में नहीं आ पाते, ख़ासतौर पर संस्थान में फ़ैले डर के कारण।
इस जरूरत के मद्देनज़र हमारा मंच के साथियों ने कई कोशिशें की हैं; इनमें पर्चे बनाना व बांटना और मुद्दों के सामजिक व राजनितिक पहलूओं को समझने के लिये एक साथ मिल बैठकर बातचीत करना जैसे प्रयास हुए हैं। इसी कड़ी में अकसर ही इस बात पर भी चर्चा हुई है कि क्यों ना एक अख़बार निकाला जाये जोकि एक माध्यम भी होगा अन्य साथियों तक पहुंचने का और फ़िर एक और जगह भी होगी अपनी बात कहने व समझ बांटने के लिये। ख़ासतौर पर इस साल फ़रवरी के महिनें में हुए ओपन-हॉऊस के बाद से एक सामुदायिक पहल के रूप में इस सोच ने और जोर पकड़ा। हमारा मंच में हुई बातचीत और मिले सुझावों का नतीजा "हमारी चौपाल हमारी बात" के रूप में आज हमारे सामने है। हालांकि हम इसे अख़बार नही बल्कि "कुछ पन्ने कामगारों के" कह रहे है। इस ईमेल के जरिये हम आप सभी से "हमारी चौपाल हमारी बात" का पहला अंक बांट रहे हैं।

हमारी उम्मीद है कि एक बेहतर भविष्य का सपना कामगारों से बांटते हुए "हमारी चौपाल हमारी बात" कामगारों, उनके परिवारों, खासतौर पर महिलाओं व युवाओं को भी जोड़ने की कोशिश करेगा।
फ़िलहाल के लिये हमने तय किया है कि "हमारी चौपाल हमारी बात" निकालने का अंतराल fix नही होगा। जब भी हमारे पास जरूरत भर का मटेरियल होगा हम एक नया अंक निकालेंगे। इस पहले अंक का संपादन मैंने किया है। उम्मीद है आने वाले समय में कुछ और साथी भी सम्पादक मंडली से जुड़ेंगे।
हमारे लिये ये प्रयास एकदम नया और अनोखा है तो जाहिर सी बात है कि इसमें गलतियां भी होंगी और कमियां भी। उम्मीद है कि आप इनकी तरफ़ हमारा ध्यान दिलाते रहेंगे। इसके अलावा हम यह भी उम्मीद करते हैं कि
- आप "हमारी चौपाल हमारी बात" पढ़ेंगे व अपने सुझाव देंगे ।
- इसे अपने मध्यम वर्गीय साथियों व कामगार साथियों तक पहुंचाएंगे।
- इसे कामगार साथियों के लिये और बेहतर व सरल बनाने में सहयोग करेंगे।
- इसके आने वाले अंको के विषय सुझायेंगे और उन अंको के लिये लिखेंगे व सामग्री सुझायेंगे।
- इसके साथ ही आप इसकी छपाई के लिये आर्थिक योगदान में भी सहयोग करेंगे। "हमारी चौपाल हमारी बात" के पहले अंक की 1000 प्रतियां छपवाने का ख़र्च 4000 रू आया है। बाकि सभी कामों का जिम्मा साथियों ने स्वैच्छिक रूप से बिना किसी आर्थिक सहयोग से उठाया है।

Dear Friends,
In the meetings of Hamara Manch (HM) we have always felt the need that:
· the struggle for workers’ rights should not revolve only around the economic issues and attempts should also be made to highlight, discuss and understand the socio-political nature of this struggle, and
· we reach out and share our understanding with those workers as well, who are not coming to our meetings primarily because of the atmosphere of fear prevalent in the campus.
In view of these needs, friends at Hamara Manch have taken up initiatives like, distributing pamphlets, discussing socio-political issues in small groups, etc. At times we have also discussed the need for starting a newspaper that can reach a larger audience and also provide another platform for raising and sharing our understanding on the workers’ issues. Such a need as a vehicle of community initiative became stronger in our minds after the Open House conducted in February this year. All such discussions and suggestions have resulted in "Hamaari Chaupaal Hamaari Baat" -- Kuch Panne Kaamgaron ke, the very first issue of which we are sharing with you through this mail. We hope that while sharing the dreams of better future, "Hamaari Chaupaal Hamari Baat (HCHB)" would be able to make a space and connect to the workers, their families, especially women and youth.

For the time being, we have decided that the publication of HCHB will not be at fixed intervals. As and when we have enough material, we will come up with a new issue. I have edited the first issue and we hope to get more hands for the subsequent issues.
For us, bringing out something like HCHB is an altogether new and unique experience. So, there may be some deficiencies and shortcomings. We hope you will point them out and help us in improving the HCHB. Apart from that we also hope that you will extend your help in
· Reading and giving feedback
· Distributing it amongst both middle class as well as worker friends
· Improving aesthetics/ visuals of the paper and making it more attractive for the readers
· Writing or suggesting material and even focus for the coming issues
· Contributing financially: bringing out a 1000 copies of the first issue has cost Rs. 4000; all the other work but for printing has been done by volunteers.
