Our 3DM class community has had a challenging start to the 2025 year and has dealt with some sad events in our classroom. We wanted to provide our students with an outlet to deal with these big emotions and help them to process some of their grief through the situation. Since this was our third round of studios, we decided to offer 9 studio options in order to promote even more choice than we did previously.
As students were thinking of the studio that they wanted to step into, we asked them to plan out their ideas digitally. This gave students the space to write down all of their ideas in a shared space. During this process some of the students decided that they may not have chosen the best studio and chose to change their studio choice prior to getting started. This also helped some students to notice that they had similar ideas and that they wanted to form a small group!

Kristen,
Your dedication to this project has been inspiring. You created studios that offered so many lovely ways to think about. The kids are so into this experience and are using it to honor and process this loss. I think it's been helpful for us as well. I am excited to how it all turns out. -Jaime
