Some pictures from our share in February with CRG visitors!
Since I last posted, we have tried many variations of studios. Usually academically driven but also for pure fun!
In Social Studies we have just finished our unit on Colonial America. My biggest goal for the culminating project was to make it all about Academic Choice. This was true from topic to resources to technology and analog projects.
I began by having kids focus on what they found the most interesting overall topic in our unit. As they read broadly about these topics they began to narrow in their focus. Everyone created an open ended research question as well as a few sub-questions.
After a few days of research students decided how they wanted to show what they know. Each students was expected to complete a technology project as well as an analog component.
Students created their own Choice Boards based on interests and technology programs they have used this year. WeVideo and Canva Infographics are new skills they were taught this year. Google Slides was a platform some used last year and felt comfortable with. By now they are so comfortable with many Studio options so I also had them create their own Choice Boards for Analog projects.
A chart of the projects is below:
Here are some examples of google slides (info books) and Infographics the students made.

Amber I love these Studio Projects. You can see how engaged the students are. I have been inspired to follow your lead. Thank you.
These are so great, Amber. I am so inspired to try Studio Projects. I've done choice boards, but I feel like I've been much "safer," and so have my kids. Excited to do my next ones with the Lit Essay unit! ~Syd
It is so amazing to see the depth of understanding that the students are sharing in their infographics. They all look so beautiful! I also love the picture of a student creating a diorama. What a great idea! -Kristen
Amber- I love this! It is a great idea to have students work on both an analog and digital piece. This would be great for Capstone.- Joann
