With the completion of the Argument Speech unit on the horizon, Kristen and I thought it would be a great opportunity to open up new studios for the class. We also felt that our students were a little reluctant to try studios that ventured away from Google Slides, something they felt comfortable with.
To combat this, Kristen and I used our teacher speech about recycling to create examples for each studio.
Here is the 3D model of a recycling bin.
We were happy to see a little more variety during our class' studio selection this time. This is the planning page we created to have our students plan out what their studio will include. We stressed the importance of thinking about potential challenges they might face while working in this round of studios.
We also thought it was important to hold our students more accountable this time around so we created a checklist that applied to all studio options. Students pictured below are using their checklists.
Next, we created frame-like studios for each student to showcase the work they are doing in the classroom for the outside bulletin board. Kristen and I modeled ours to the left. We created a name tag that highlighted the essence of our argument. We also included our studio plans and pictures of the products we made.
This is the bulletin board with student name tags, pictures, and their studio plans pictured. Some students use props in their photos if they thought they helped enhance their argument. Students from other classes were excited to see the ideas of our class as they walked to specials.
