As I've said several times throughout this course, the Wilson Reading program can be repetitive and mundane due to its explicit nature. However, I was determined this year to find ways to increase engagement and make learning more playful. Participating in the course has given me an abundance of resources and ideas that I hope will continue to support me in designing meaningful experiences for my students. Working with Yvonne and the rest of the collegial research group has really encouraged me to think creatively. Even just the little tweaks I've made to my instruction has made such a big difference in student engagement. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to share ideas with other teachers. This course has inspired me to sign up for the summer STI course on hands-on activities, a course I've taken in the past. With this new, deeper understanding about the benefits of "playful learning", I am excited to see what else I (we) can create to make learning more fun!Â
