We are planning how to incorporate studio play into our publishing opportunities for our Unit 2 Argument Writing Unit. Traditionally, all students would type up a speech and then record it with We Video in technology class. However, given Yvonne's studio play idea, we think this would benefit many students in our classes who struggle to elaborate or get their thoughts down onto paper. This would open up doors for students to use learning about claim, reasons, and evidence in a wide variety of ways. Please see below for our Studio Play plan for Unit 2- Argument.
Studio Play for Argument Writing
We hope that this will truly become a "Changing the World" unit, because we are removing the barrier created for some students that struggle with writing several paragraphs.
We are looking forward to see the level of engagement given this opportunity. We are just launching this unit so it will be several weeks before we can implement.
We also started planning how we can incorporate play into our ICT classroom for our second science unit (which is also upcoming in the future.) See link below.
Finally, we have an upcoming field trip to the Hebrew Home of Riverdale, where students will have the chance to interview someone of an older generation. We created a choice board for how to showcase what they learned from their new friend that they interviewed. See below!
